One of the most striking features of International school of Brussels is the extraordinary sense of community and the welcome it offers to families from countries all around the globe. We celebrate this diversity and the opportunities for learning that it brings
ISB is more than a school. It is a complete community, serving the needs of students, teachers, staff, parents and alumni, either directly or through successful, collaborative partnerships. For us a positive culture and community are not ‘accidental’. If everyone is to be included, challenged and successful then it cannot be left to chance.

Livia Andersen: I’m Livia, and I am a half-Italian half-danish student, who moved to Brussels a couple of years ago. I have lived the majority of my life in Tuscany, Sienna, living in the countryside. When I was 11 I went to Dallas for a month for an international summer camp with CISV, where I learnt the majority of my English. I then went to Manchester for a week-long camp with the same organization. I love to throw myself into the unknown and see what happens. I have played volleyball for the majority of my life and like to doodle and sketch. I also enjoy cooking even though I’m extremely bad at it. |
William Ryelandt:
Hi, my name is William. I am a 16 year old student at the International School of Brussels that loves to seek discomfort and to be challenged. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas before moving to Brussels, Belgium when I was 6 years old. A few things you should know about me; I love sports, getting out of my comfort zone, meeting new people, seek adventure, and discover new places! I am really looking forward to my trip at Westlake Academy where I hope to make new friends and share my learning experiences! |
Gabriel Blondeau: My name is Gabriel Blondeau. I am from Belgium, born and raised. My mother is Belgian and my father French, from Paris. I have lived in Belgium my whole life and this is my third year at the International School of Brussels. I enjoy many things outside of school such as tennis, guitar but also summer camps about something that interests me, such as law or international relations or politics. I of course love spending time with my friends whether it is to discuss and debate or just to hang out. I am very excited about going to Texas as I have never been to the Southern part of the US and considering that Houston is the fourth biggest town of the US, I am very enthusiastic.

Ben Askew: Hello! My name is Ben Askew, 'Hoo's it gaun?' I'm a sporty, Scottish scholar who doesn't take life too seriously but will always rise to a challenge. Whatever the project, assignment or activity I bring a positive attitude and energy to the task at hand unless, of course, it's getting out of bed in the morning. I encourage everyone to become actively involved to their best potential, ensuring a few laughs along the way. When I'm not on the rugby pitch (hardly ever) I relax listening to, playing or creating music. I enjoy leadership roles and the pressure that comes with them. Let the Symposium begin!

Helena Reed: My name is Helena Reed and I am 15 years old. I am born and have always lived in Brussels but still have a half British and half German nationality due to my parents. I therefore also speak several languages: German, French, English and some basic Dutch. The International School of Brussels has been my school for nearly four years now, and I love all all the activities and opportunities it offers, as well as how international it is. Aside from school and work, I really enjoy sports such as Field Hockey, Softball and Running. I also play a bit of guitar and like art, photography, filming and clothes. With my international background, I have become a very open minded and liberal individual and am looking forward to be meeting students from all around the world. And since I love traveling and discovering new places, I am even more excited to go to Texas and discover the Texan culture and lifestyle.
